Discounting applied to donations
The Behavioral Insights Team (BIT) worked with a community trust to increase their donations through three interventions. These interventions included 1. asking for a one-off payment every month, 2. asking for annual increases, resulting in increasing donations, and 3. asking for larger annual increases than in 2. It was found that the third intervention of large annual increases in donations led to people donating considerably more, and predictably donating more over the course of a lifetime than the other 2 intervention groups.
