Mary Carol Mazza, PhD, is a Senior Behavioral Scientist and User Experience Researcher engaged in creating positive social impact at Google, one of the largest social tech companies in the world. She is also available for contract work as a UX Researcher & UX Strategist as part of the UX Researchers Guild. Prior to her current role, she worked at other Silicon
Valley technology companies, including Meta, Apple, and Xerox PARC (Palo Alto Research Center).
Dr. Mazza serves on non-profit boards and believes passionately in the strategic application of behavioral economics and social psychology to the development of products, services, and systems to improve people’s lives most effectively. With over two decades of research expertise focused on cognitive biases in judgment and decision-making, her industry background spans government, academia, healthcare, and tech.
Dr. Mazza completed a joint Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Healthcare Innovation at Stanford School of Medicine and Palo Alto Medical Foundation and holds a Ph.D. in Business Studies and Organizational Behavior through a joint program at Harvard Business School and Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. She received an A.M. in Social Psychology from Harvard and an Honors B.A. in Psychology and Economics with concentrations in Women’s Studies and the Interdisciplinary Study of Poverty from Washington and Lee University in Virginia. An intrepid traveler with boundless curiosity and a love of learning, she has trekked across all 50 US states and over 60 countries in the pursuit of understanding people and cultures more deeply.
