Survey Privacy Policy

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for The Decision Lab regarding surveys administered by us. This privacy notice applies solely to information collected through our surveys, except where stated otherwise. It will notify you of the following:

  • What information we collect through surveys;
  • With whom it is shared;
  • How it can be corrected;
  • How it is secured;
  • How policy changes will be communicated; and
  • How to address concerns over misuse of personal data.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

We are the sole owners of the information collected through our surveys. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily provide through survey responses or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to analyze survey results and/or respond to you regarding the reason you participated in the survey. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill research objectives.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to inform you about survey results, new surveys, or changes to this privacy policy.

Your Access to and Control Over Information

You may opt-out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number provided on our survey documentation:

  • See what data we have about you, if any. 
  • Change/correct any data we have about you. 
  • Have us delete any data we have about you. 
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data

Registration

In order to participate in our surveys, a respondent may be required to provide certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about the surveys or research studies in which you have expressed interest.You may also be required to provide demographic information (such as gender or age) about yourself.

Sharing

We share aggregated survey results with our research partners and stakeholders. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

And/or:

We may use external services to process and analyze survey data. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes beyond the scope of the survey.

And/or:

We partner with other parties to conduct specific surveys or research studies. When you participate in these surveys, we will share necessary contact information with these third parties to facilitate the survey. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of conducting the survey.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via survey responses, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (e.g., data analysis or survey administration) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers on which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

Links

Survey communications may contain links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage survey respondents to be aware when they follow links and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information

Proprietary Content

Some of the content (written content, artwork, etc.) provided in our surveys is created by us and our affiliates. When this is the case, the content is our intellectual property and cannot be reused without our permission.

Third-Party Content

Some of the content (written content, artwork, etc.) provided in our surveys has been created by third parties that are not affiliated with The Decision Lab. When this is the case, we provide fair copyright attribution, a link to the original source and notify relevant parties that we are re-publishing third-party content. If you are the owner of a piece of content we have republished and you would like us to remove it, please contact us at info@thedecisionlab.com

Indemnification

We are not responsible for what users may do with any survey content published by The Decision Lab. Thus, respondents to The Decision Lab surveys and associated communications (email, social media, etc.) fully indemnify The Decision Lab against any and all liabilities related to the use of its surveys and associated properties.

Other Provisions as Required by Law

Numerous other provisions and/or practices may be required as a result of laws, international treaties, or industry practices. It is up to you to determine what additional practices must be followed and/or what additional disclosures are required. Please take special notice of the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), which is frequently amended and now includes a disclosure requirement for “Do Not Track” signals.
