Overview

Puberty is tough anywhere. In Za’atari refugee camp, the day a girl gets her period can be an abrupt end to childhood: adults may restrict her mobility and socializing, shutting the door on opportunity and fueling school drop-outs, child marriage, and early pregnancy. 

IDEO.org, the non-profit sister organization of one of the world’s foremost design firms, set out to develop an educational workshop on reproductive health for girls in Za’atari. They were looking to supplement their human-centered design approach with a behavioral science perspective.

Approach

TDL was approached by IDEO.org to act as a behavioral advisor, identifying behavioral design opportunities and providing guidance on how to leverage core behavioral science insights in their projects.
