The government in Ireland worked to increase small and medium enterprise survey compliance. The Irish Revenue wanted to quantify and address some of the issues facing SMEs. Irish used a randomized controlled trial to test personalized surveys by including a personalized note and following up with people who did not respond. The results demonstrated that this level of personalness and the reminders both led to an increase in the response rate of SMEs, as well as the quickness of responses.
