Rachel Carey

Chief Scientist @ Zinc VC
Rachel is Chief Scientist at Zinc, an incubator that helps build new companies to tackle important social issues at scale, supported by funding from UKRI and The Wellcome Trust. Her role focuses on combining high-quality scientific research with innovative product development. She leads the growing R&D team in leveraging and translating existing evidence, experimenting with creative solutions, and generating and sharing new knowledge. Since joining Zinc in 2017, Rachel has helped to shape over 30 new mission-driven startups. Dr. Carey is a behavioural scientist with a PhD in Psychology. In addition to her work at Zinc, she is UKRI Future Leaders Fellow, and an Associate at the UCL Centre for Behaviour Change, where she continues to deliver training and teaching in behavioural science, transport psychology, and digital health.
